DETAILS
Kintsugi, the golden repair. It is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer mixed with powdered gold. The Kintsugi treats the breakage and repair as part of the history of an object rather than something to disguise. Discover the beauty of Kintsugi – the Japanese art of golden repair. Like broken pottery, life can leave us chipped and shattered. Instead of hiding the cracks, we embrace them with lacquer mixed with powdered gold. By mending it with gold and letting the brokenness show, it gets highlighted when infused with precious metals. Our scars become part of our story, and though they may remain after trauma, we believe you can shine through them with resilience. Trauma can break us, but we can be lovingly pieced back together. This trauma art class is one that we offer survivors of trafficking through our Hope Mentorship Program. Still, the process behind the Kintsugi is relevant and valuable for anyone who has encountered any kind of trauma in their life. We hope you join us at this trauma art class. The cost is $45.00, including the class, art project, and supplies. ART CLASS INSTRUCTED BY SARAH RACINE, HOPE TRAUMA ART TEACHER
